Waterbury is in the heart of Vermont, and offers all the best of the Green Mountain State.
Beer enthusiasts are in luck because really good beer is a Waterbury staple. Our region is famous for its craft beers including Waterbury’s own Heady Topper, a American double IPA brewed by the Alchemist and voted one of the best beers in the world by Beer Advocate, an honor which has garnered it a world-wide cult following that includes beer fans who travel hundreds of miles just to get a taste. But while you are here be sure to branch out beyond Heady, as there are so many good beers to be had in this area—in fact, you will find over 150 great beers on tap within walking distance of our Inn.
Nearby are four major ski resorts: Stowe, Sugarbush, Mad River Glen, and Bolton Valley offer some of the best skiing, snowboarding, and x-country skiing in Vermont. Snowshoeing opportunities can be found right out the back door—the Green Mountains and a huge network of trails surround us. The VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) snowmobile trails can be accessed nearby also. Take a snowmobile tour with Stowe Snowmobile Tours. October Siberians offers dog sled tours from Little River State Park, which is only a few miles away.
When it's warmer weather, these same mountains provide awesome hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, and camping possibilities. The Winooski River, which runs right behind our Inn, offers great canoeing and kayaking, as well as some of the best fly fishing waters in New England. Additionally, the Waterbury Reservoir is a great resource for all water sports, especially smallmouth bass fishing.
For the relaxed traveler, numerous attractions include Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, which offers factory tours, the Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Lake Champlain Chocolates and Cabot Farmer's Store. Antique stores are abundant in the area, as well as a fine array of restaurants for all tastes.
