Hen of the Wood
Farm to table, refined yet down-to-earth

One of Vermont’s top-rated restaurants, Hen of the Wood offers a truly Vermont experience featuring farm-to-table cuisine in a casual, contemporary setting. It’s hard to list favorites, as the menu changes daily to showcase the region’s most vibrant foods, but do yourself a favor and try the hen of the woods mushroom toast, parker house rolls, and whatever fresh pasta they have on the menu. Reservations are recommended (they tend to book up several weeks in advance) but counter seating is available at their two bars, one in the main dining room and the other in the downstairs speak-easy. A three-minute walk.

Long known for its lovingly curated, rotating draft beer list, Blackback also serves inspired craft cocktails and a sophisticated wine menu. A two-minute walk.

Prohibition Pig
House-smoked meats, fresh beers, and lots of booze

Pro Pig offers two distinct dining experiences. The restaurant features their house-smoke meats and house-brewed beers as well as an extensive liquor selection (over 100 whiskeys cover the left half of the wall, with the right representing the rest of the spirit world). The brewery offers a sandwich-focused menu highlighting those same meats and beers, with an outdoor patio when weather permits. Local favorites include fried wings, pork ribs, and duck fat fries. Large groups can “buy the farm” and share an assortment of their most popular meats. A three-minute walk.

It all started with the taproom, featuring the finest craft beers of all styles from around the world. They put as much attention into the care and service of the beers as they do the selection, yielding an outstanding drinking experience. The restaurant showcases local meats and produce in creative adaptations of classic pub fare. Current favorites include the roasted corn fritters and carbonara which make the 20 minute drive worth it!
